Question
EXPERIMENTCUEC PRE-LABORATORY QUESTIONS CHARLES LAW NAME DATE 1. Why must the flask be dry before it is heated in the hot water bath? 2 Why is a correction NOT needed on the air sample in the hot water bath? 3. What is the gas whose volume and temperature are being measured in this experiment? 4. What instrument do we use to measure the atmospherie pressure? Sketch a graph that would represent the relationship between volume and temperature of a gas (at constant pressure). Be sure to label both axes. 5.Explanation / Answer
To better understand this question we have idea about charle's law which states that volume of gas is directly proportional to the temperature. When we perform the charle's law in laboratory we first heat the flask on water bath. Then cool it and allow the water into it. Finally subtract the volume of water enter into flask from the total capacity of flask which gives the volume of air present in flask. If the flask is not completely wet before heated on water bath the amount of water present in flask is greater than actually it should be when it cools down. It gives the error in the calculation of volume of gas present in flask
