moles Al = 0.5 g/27 g/mol = 0.0185 moles

4. actual mass of alum obtained = 5.48 g

5. moles Al used in reaction = 5.48 g x 27 g/mol/474.4 g/mol = 0.01155 moles

6. theoretical yield of alum = 0.0185 mol x 474.4 g/mol = 8.78 g

7. percent yield of alum = 5.48 x 100/8.78 = 62.43%
