Question

3 Canvas 7:40 PM Conceptual Equilibrium (7 points) The following diagrams represent a hypothetical reaction A represented by white spheres. The sequence from left to right represents the system as time passes. Do the diagrams indicate the system reaches an equilibrium state? Explain 1. B, with A represented by black spheres and B yes the system reacnes eavilibrium. IF yru observe in the lasttWo boxes A-8, meaning both are convgrting 2 Consider an initial mixture of Na and H gases that can be represented as follows The gases react to form ammonia gas (NHs) as represented by the following concentration profile: 2 points a. Label each plot on the graph as Na Hs or NHs and explain your answers b. Explain the relative shapes of the plots When is equilibrium reached? How do you know? c. 3. Can the equilibrium constant ever be a negative number? Explain The eavilibrium canstant can never be reqative because it gives the prediction about point whther tne reaction is favor ing reactants or products ut eullirium When the following reactions come to equilibrium, does the equilibrium mixture contain mostly reactants or mostly products? 4. K-15x0 mstly reactants K -25 x 10 mostly producEs 1 point

Explanation / Answer

Ans 1 :

The equillibrium state is the condition in the reaction , where the reaction does not stops , but the concentration of reactants and the product species do not change with time.

The concentration of reactants and products should not necessarily be equal to reach the equillibrium condition.

Here in the picture, last two diagrams show same concentration of A and B species , whoch means there is no more conversion of A into B , or B into A , which indicates that the reaction has reached its equillibrium state.
