25 257 m 03mL1.20 V. is the ttration value that would be obtained when the & iberation is complete (which requires a long reaction time or an increased temperature) For this practicalV. -26 ml 3) Use Excel to plot In(V-V) vs time. Explain how they afect te KI . KSOs reacton

Explanation / Answer

4) The slope of the curve indicates k' which is the rate of reaction of pseudo first order reaction. The equation is-

ln(Vt-Vinf) = k't + ln(V0-Vinf)

Hence, k'= 0.1876 min-1.

5) For calculation of k from k', we need to find the concentration of I-. This can be done by balancing the reaction equation and then equating the no. of equivalents, i.e., M1V1=M2V2. But, for that the concentration of atleast one of the reactant or product should be known. Since, it is provided in the question, we can't find M2 (concentration of I-). Without which calculation of k is not possible.

6) Addition of ice restricts the reaction. As lowering of temperature, lowers the rate of reaction. Hence, the sample to be titrated is kept into ice water so that almost negligible reaction occurs during the time consumed in titration. This results into less error.
