I don't understand how to do these two questions a and b.a) Describe the relationship between genotype, phenotype, and environment. b) Explain each scenario below in terms of how it provides evidence of environmental influence on phenotype. Seeds from the same oak tree are carried by the wind to different locations. Trees that grow from the seeds vary in height and trunk diameter. One group of turtle eggs hatches with a 9: 1 ratio of females to males, and another group of turtle eggs in another location produces all male hatchlings Bacteria in a solution with lactose have one set of enzymes in their cytosol while bacteria in a solution of glucose have a different set.

a.Often it is assumed that the phenotype is the sum of the genotype and the environment .The phenotype can also be seen as the interaction between genetics and environmental factors, some genotypes are better in one environment and others are better in another environment .
b.Some oak tree found in hilly area will be taller than oak trees in the plain area as these are different environments and these enable the oak trees to adopt different phenotypes.
c.In one group where 9 males and one female is produced a female exerts selection pressure on the males to be fit so that she can mate with the best male out there.In other groups where there are all males
d.This happens as different sets of genes are enable to function in different sets of environments .In bacteria this happens by means of operons which enables the expression of certain genes at certin time simultaneously repressing those genes which are not required.For eg.If lactose is the medium of nutrition only those sets of genes would be expressed in bacteria which are needed for the digestion and uptake and when the medium is glucose only glucose metabolizing genes would be expressed.
