The pH=-log10(H+). For example, the 0.1 M stock of HCI has a pH=-log10(0:1)=1. Using the dilution (5 mL 0.1 HCl: 5 mL H2O), what is the pH of tube 1? Choose the closest answer. A. 1.3 B. 2.8 C. D. 4.2Explanation / Answer
I have solved the first problem, for remaining problem data is not present i.e. what amount of HCl is getting mixed with water in other testubes
1)
M1V1 = M2V2
V1 = Volume of HCl = 5mL
V2 = Volume of HCl + Volume of water = 5mL + 5mL = 10 mL
(0.1)(5) = 10 * M2
M2 = 0.05
pH = -log[H+] = -log[0.05] = 2 - log(5) = 1 + log(2) = 1.3010
Correct answer is Option A
