A very strong stretch is observed at 1700 cm ester 2. Only a weak stretch is observed above 3000 cm 1, at 3073 cm 1 aldehyde carboxylic acid primary amide ketone The remaining compounds can be diffentiated by the following data: Two stretches are observed at 2827 and 2745 cm 1. dentify the compound ketone primary amide ester aldehyde O carboxylic acid Previous X Give Up & View Solution Check Answer Next ECI Exit HintExplanation / Answer
Solution:- (1) A very strong stretch at 1700 cm-1 (C=O) and a weak stretch at 3073 cm-1 (N-H) is a strong indication of an amide. So, ester, eldehyde, carboxylic acid and ketone all could be eliminated.
(2) Aldehydes gives two stretches at 2827 cm-1 and 2745 cm-1 for =C-H. None of the other group gives this so the compound is an aldehyde.
