The solubility of metal salts can be greatly affected by acidifcation. Metal salts tend to get precipitated when the soluton is acidified. Say a metal nitrate which is water soluble will get precipitated upon addition of acid to the solution. Similarly, when a metal halide salt with low solubility can be converted to a more soluble salt by forming a complex ion with the excess acid. In terms of common ion effect, If we add a common ion present in our acid to a solution of metal salt, the equilibrium will shift to opposite direction. This is according to the LeChatellier's principle.
