Explanation / Answer

1. Answer: a. Explanation: Hyperthermia (the milk being too hot) and exertion (applying to much force) can be easily controlled by the person feeding the baby. Taking into account that a baby's immune system isn't as strong as an adult's, it is important that all the feeding equipment as well as the milk is sterilized. Once sterile it is important to wait until it's 37°C (body temperature) to avoid burning the baby's tongue. But it is even more important to be alert about excessive air intake as it is the main cause of abdominal distension (accumulation of air in the abdomen), which at the same time, causes pain and in some extreme cases, if a lot of air is accumulated the pressure reaches the lungs causing shortness of breath. The excessive air intake happens when a baby drinks too fast, if it's in a straight horizontal position while feeding or if the nipple in the bottle has too big. Normal sized holes in nipples should drop 1 drop of milk per second.

2. Answer: a. Observation: It's logan's bow not logon bow. Explanation: logan's bow it's a device that helps to stress off the pressure on the sutures after a surgery to fix a cleft lip. Prone position helps to drain oral fliuds and posture of the tongue so the sutures don't torn.

3. Answer: b. Explanation: GERD is the reflux of gastric juice (also known as stomach acid) into the esophagus, but in some cases, if the reflux goes to high and there is air intake at the same time the stomach acid could get into the trachea, travels to the lungs and cause inflammation (pneumonia).
