Question
What 50 situations exist within an ethnography project where crossfit is the topic of study? I am a participant.
Here is the background: There are many ways of writing a good ethnographic/field research paper. This is step one of a 12 step process, outlined by Spradley, that will lead you to your final project for this course: Your Written Ethnography. Following the 12 steps outlined in this course will give you an introduction to several of the components of en ethnographic paper to ensure that your readers understand what you are doing and that you are doing justice to the information your participants provided. Before you start writing ask yourself: Who is my audience? Who do I want to read this? What do I want them to get out of this? What position am I going to take? Do I want to be distanced (3rd Person) or do I want to be more involved (1st person). Enjoy this project. You will find that this will prove to be a great learning experience when you begin you Doctoral Project. Read carefully Step 1 in the Participant Observation (1980) text book and establish a work sheet set of the specific tasks outlined at the end of the chapter (page 52) for review with your mentor and be sure to log in these 50 situations and select your top 6 for consideration (suggestion – use an excel spread sheet). Think of the specifics as to why your selected situations might work and outline the actions, activities and places that best fit for your ethnographic project. Submit your list and selected six (6) situation proposals with advantages of each of your selected six situations for final review and you recommendation on what situation will be chosen. Explain why you chose that specific research situation and outline both the significance and the research scope, material availability, and especially the contribution and significance of your specific selection. Make sure there is plenty of research data available within your selected situation to formulate an expansive research project and presentation. As part of your Step 1 process develop a matrix table of ethical considerations for actors and other research data and information points. Affix this table to your assignment submittal and affix this matrix to your log. Be articulate as to the ethical causes and possible effects of your research actions and consider possible outcomes of each cited event and especially what actions must be taken to avert such ethical breeches. Your ethical table should cover the scope of your research only and include an insertion on APA citation requirements on the use of all data within your project.
Thank you!
